Cdrika Provencher, missing since 2007, found dead

The body of Cdrika Provencher, who went missing 2007 at the age of 9, has been found in Saint-Maurice, Que., police say.

The body ofCdrikaProvencher, who has been missing since 2007, has been foundinSaint-Maurice, nearTrois-Rivires, Que.

TheSret du Qubec, the provincial police force,announced late Saturday that they had recoveredhuman bones and identified them as the remains ofCdrika.

The girl was last seen onJuly 31, 2007, near her homeinTrois-Rivires. She was reportedlyapproached by an adult who asked for help to finda missing dog.She was neverseen again.

She was nineyears old at thetime.

On Friday afternoon, human remains were found by passersby in a forest on the edge of Hwy. 40 East in Saint-Maurice, the SQ said.

A SQ command post was dispatched to the site, near a service road.

Cdrika'sfamily was informed on Saturday.

For now, there areno arrestsbut the investigation is continuing, police said.

Cdrika's disappearance caused a shockwave that went beyondthebordersof Quebec.

Last June, the production of an investigative documentary onCdrika's storywas announced. Director Stphan Parent said he wanted to reopen the investigation into her disappearance.

The release of the film isscheduled for the end of 2016.
