Cdrika Provencher's former Scout troop to take part in vigil

A group of Scouts in Trois-Rivires, Que., will take part in a vigil honouring Cdrika Provencher now that her remains have been found.

A group of Scouts in Trois-Rivires, Que., will take part in avigil honouringCdrika Provencher now that her remains have been found.

"We went on the site [where she was found] last Sunday just to put the Scout scarf there," said Yannick Lalibert Caron, a district commissioner for Scouts de la Saint-Maurice. "To put the scarf and just say, 'We found you, and goodbye.' "

Cdrika, who was nine when she went missing, was a Scout in the group called 27e Rseau Les Tournesols. On the posters calling for information about her whereabouts, Cdrikawas wearing herScout scarf and uniform.

Lalibert Caron went to visit the troop on Monday, two days after it was confirmed Cdrika's remains had been found.

"Some youths were sad. Some were Scouts together with Cdrika...Two were in tears. They had to leave the place...just to recompose themseves," he said.

Family members continued to stop by the site Tuesday.

"It's not easy. We have to muster our courage just to keep going. But at least now there's a kind of relief knowing that she's been found," said Jean-Marie Fortier, Cdrika's maternal grandfather.

A vigil will be held on Saturday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET, at Parc Chapais in Trois-Rivires.

All the Scouts will be wearing their scarves.

"We were present from the start and we will continue to be there for the family," Lalibert Caron said.

Police investigation continues

On Tuesday, about 200 police officers spent the day combing the area.

They raked the ground in search of any clues and drove through the swampy area on all-terrain vehicles.

Grald Adam owns the property where Cdrikaremains were found.

"It's difficult terrain, especially because the forest is very, very dense. Some of it is underwater, some of it is dry. The first part of the property is dry land. After that, it's a large marsh," Adam said.

A light snowfall on Tuesday prompted officers to work quickly in an effort to finish combing the entire area before the ground is eventually covered in snow.

Police are not saying ifinvestigators have found anything significant in their search so far.
