Charges laid in Serre murder

Tommy Gagné has been formally charged in connection with last week's murder of Brigitte Serre. The teenager was stabbed to death and found dead in a washroom during her first overnight shift at a Shell gasoline station.

Tommy Gagn has been formally charged in connection with last week's murder of Brigitte Serre. The teenager was stabbed to death and found dead in a washroom during her first overnight shift at a Shell gasoline station.

Prosecutors charged Gagn with first degree murder, forcible confinement and armed robbery.

Another man, Sebastien Simon, was arraigned in Edmonton. He's being flown back to Montreal where he will face the same charges as Gagn.

Jol Nantais, 18, turned himself in to Montreal police on Friday. He was charged on Saturday with various offences, including being an accessory after the fact and two counts of armed robbery.

A fourth man wanted for questioning following the stabbing death of a 17-year-old Montreal gas-station attendant was arrested on Monday morning. But police say, after questionning, Sergio Moniz, 27, will not be charged in connection with Serre's murder.

He was not arrested in connection with the murder, but rather for breaking release conditions of an unrelated drug charge.

Montreal's chief of police, Yvan Delorme, credited help from the public with moving the case forward so quickly. Even parents of the suspects co-operated, he said.
