Chicoutimi crash on New Year's Eve leaves 1 dead

A 23-year-old woman was killed in a collision Thursday night in the Saguenay region.

A 23-year-old woman was killed in a collision Thursday nightin the Saguenay region.

The collision happened at around 5:30 p.m. New Year's Eveonl'UniversitBoulevard in Chicoutimi, located about 450 kilometres northeast of Montreal.

Witnesses say the woman'scar deviated from her lane and into oncoming traffic.

Two others were taken to hospital with injuries to the head and upper body.

It's not the first fatal accident to occur on this stretch of road.

In 2002, a coroner recommended installing signals to tell drivers toslow down in case of bad weather, after two people were killed in a crash.
