Child pornography charges laid against 5 Quebec men

Six people in Quebec have been arrested and charged in connection with child pornography.

Sixth man expected to be charged in court on Friday

Six people in Quebec have been arrested and charged in connection withchild pornography.

According to theSretduQubec,ric Robillard, 35, ric Faubert, 36, Andr Lgar, 38, Daniel Fiset, 61, andJacques Ct, 71, have appeared at courthouses in Sorel-Tracy,Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, St-Jrme andTrois-Rivires, where they were officially charged.

SQ spokesmanSgt. Claude Denis saidthe men were arrested Wednesday and Thursday andeach face three charges: Accessing, possessing and distributing child pornography.

A sixth man, in his 60s, was released with the promise to appear at his Friday court date. He is expectedto face the same charges as the five other men.

Denis said the men, who are from various towns and cities in southern Quebec, all allegedly downloaded and shared the same file one that the SQ describes as containing a kind of violence that is "rarely seen."

Investigators searched the men's homes and seized their computersas well.

The arrests are the result of an investigation that began in the fall of 2014, after a foreign police service alerted officers in Quebec to the suspects.
