COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know on Monday

Deputy premier Genevive Guilbaultthanked Quebecers for adopting the province's new mandatory mask rule at a news conference Monday.

As of last weekend, masks are required in enclosed public spaces. The rule was met withwidespread support from customers and merchants, as well as some small but vocal resistance.

"We want to get to a point where we don't necessarily need to explain the scientific reasons for wearing a mask. The longer you wear it, the more it will become normal," Guilbault said.

Although there has been a slight increase in cases in the province in the past week, Guilbault noted that it coincides with an increase in testing.
