COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know on Monday

• Quebec reported 586 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths Monday. Threeother deaths, occurring between Sept. 14 and Sept. 19were also reported, and one was removed from the total because it is nolonger attributed to COVID-19. With 586 new cases reported Monday the highest single-day total since May Quebec Public Health Director Dr. Horacio Arruda says the province has entered the second wave of COVID-19.

"With today's numbers, I am very, very, very concerned by the situation to the point where I am now considering that we're maybe in a second wave we are in the second wave," Arruda said.

Arruda's statement comes after three regions, including Montreal and Quebec City,were put under "moderate alert" Sunday.

On Monday,Dr. Mylne Drouin, public health director for Montreal, said the city is currently dealing with 53 active outbreaks.
