Quebec reported 1,038new cases of COVID-19 and twodeaths on Monday, as well as four deaths that occurred at an earlier date.Since the start of the pandemic, there have been94,429confirmed cases in the province and6,044 people have died.

Hundreds of union members with theFdration interprofessionnelle de la sant du Qubec say the pandemic is putting a strain on the health-care system and they want better working conditions.

Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubannounced on Twitter Mondaythat Joliette,and much of the surrounding area, will be classified as "red zones" beginning Wednesday at midnight.

That means bars and restaurant dinning rooms will have to close and high-school studentswill have to wear masks while in class.

"In certain parts of theLanaudireregion, we're seeing an increase in community transmission, and we have to take the necessary measures to reduce the spread,"Dubsaid in a statement.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

Fever.
New or worsening cough.
Difficulty breathing.
Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.
Gastrointestinal issues (such as nausea, diarrhea).

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:

Wash your hands frequently.
Avoid touching your face.
Wear a mask or face coveringwhen physical distancing is not possible. Wearing a mask is mandatory in enclosed public spaces across the province.
Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
