Crown wants prison term for Emma Czornobaj

The Crown is asking for a prison term for a woman who caused a fatal traffic accident after she stopped her car on a busy highway to help ducks.

The Crown is asking for a prison term for a woman whocaused a fatal traffic accident after she stopped her car on a busyhighway to help ducks.

The prosecution told a sentencing hearing for Emma Czornobaj theyoung woman should go to jail for nine months and do 240 hours ofcommunity service.

The defence says 240 hours of community service is sufficient.

Czornobaj was convicted by a jury of two counts of criminalnegligence causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causingdeath.

She is appealing her conviction in the June 2010 deaths of AndrRoy and his teenage daughter Jessie.

The trial heard Czornobaj had stopped her car on a highway torescue ducklings on the side of the road when a motorcycle carryingthe victims slammed into her car.
