Do Crew volunteers brave the weather to lend a hand

On what was one of the worst morning commutes of 2016, six dedicated Do Crew volunteers braved snow, freezing rain and hazardous road conditions to help Logifem womens shelter in Montreal.

On what was one of the worst morning commutes of 2016, six dedicated Do Crew volunteersbraved snow, freezing rain and hazardous road conditionsto help Logifem women's shelter in Montreal.

Logifem provides accommodation and a wide variety of support for women and children in difficulty, with services such as emergency and long-term shelter providing residents with a safe place to stay. They offer an intervention worker, who is there to help each individual achieve their objectives, as well as personallife-skills development training. Their goal is to support, stabilize and assist women in moving forward.

Feeling very fortunate to have received many donations this past holiday season, Logifem found themselves lacking the time and the manpower to sort through the many boxes and bags of clothing, linen, dishes and other items that had accumulated.

Thanks to Bruce and Veronica who brought the chic back into the Logifem boutique; rearranging and transforming the space, making it easily accessible. Also thanks to Alison, Pamela, Corinne and Elizabeth, who helped to open up and create more room for storage! Now, residents are now able to use those areas to their full potential!

If you think the Do Crew could help your community organization or event, we are currently reviewing applications for the months of March and April. Please send an email to jennifer.allen@radio-canada.ca or call and leave a message at 514-597-4479.
