The current leader of Vrai Changementhasannounced that she will not run for the leadership race of Projet Montral.

Justine McIntyre, who is a councillor in Pierrefonds-Roxboro, told Radio-Canada that the looming Oct. 15 deadline to apply for the race is too soon for her toproperly preparefor the campaign.

"Projet Montral's openingto permit new candidates sends a strong message," she said. "But the creation of this alternative requires more time."

However,McIntyre didn't completely nix the idea of ProjetMontral joining forces withVrai Changement, a small party in terms of numbers and seats, before Montreal'smunicipal election in 2017.

She told Radio-Canada she wishestalksbetween the two parties continue in hopes of providing a united front to"offer a strong alternative to Denis Coderre."

The Projet Montral leadership race so far has three candidates: councillors Franois Limoges, Valrie Plante, and Guillaume Lavoie.
