Some parents are upset about how the administration at FACEschool in downtown Montreal handled the discovery of lead in the drinking water.

The heavymetal was foundfollowing renovations last Monday at the building on University Street.

Administration immediately announced that the school's water fountains were off limits and handed out bottled water to staff and students the following day.

However, parents were only informed of the contamination a few days later on Thursdayin a letter by school principal Annie Lamarre a decision that angered many.

"There was a lag in communication between parents, but that lag did not cause any safety concerns for the students," Andrew Edwards, the president of the school's governing board, said.

In the letter, the school's administration says that is overseeing the work and will let parents know when the ban is lifted.
