Montreal taxi driver stabbed in armed robbery

Montreal police are looking for two suspects after an armed robbery in a taxi last night in Pointe-aux-Trembles.

53-year-old man taken to hospital, police say injuries are not life-threatening

Police are looking for two suspects, a male and female, in connection with the stabbing. (Radio-Canada)

A 53-year-old taxi driverwas stabbed duringan armed robbery in Pointe-aux-Trembles, around 9 p.m. Friday night.

Police say two passengers,a man and a woman, asked to be driven behind an apartment building on SherbrookeStreet near 47thAvenue.

When they got there, the man allegedly threatened the driver with a sharp object, while the woman took all of the valuables in the taxi.

Montreal police spokesperson Daniel Lacoursiretold CBC that the altercation then turned violent.

"At a certain moment during the theft, the male suspect stabbed the victim, in the lower body. After this aggression, both suspects fled the scene."

He was transported to hospital, but his injuries are not said to be life-threatening.
