Power restored to thousands as thunderstorm watch ends

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Montreal and surrounding areas Wednesday.

Predicted storm blew by quickly, causing minimal damage

At the height of the storm, 27,000customers were without power as strong winds and rain pelted thesouthwestern part of the province.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch forMontreal and surrounding areas Wednesday but later downgraded it.

The thunderstormsput an end to the city's dry spell since Montreal hasn't seen any rain since Sept. 10.

Heat wave comes to an end

The unseasonably balmy weathermarks thefirst heat wave Montreal has had all summer even though it's autumn.

The hot weather conditionsled the city to reopenwading pools and splash pads, and forced thecancellation of the Montreal marathon.

In Montreal tomorrow, the temperature isexpected to be17 C, right around the normfor this time of year. The low will be 6 C.
