Quebec's minimum wage rises 20 cents, to $10.75 an hour

It's International Workers' Day and Quebec's minimum wage is getting a boost on the occasion.

It's International Workers'Day and Quebec's minimum wage is getting a boost on the occasion.

Minimum wage is going up 20 cents, to $10.75 an hour. That works out to anincrease of $8 over a 40-hour work week.

But many unions and labour groups say the increase isnot enough.

The Quebec Federation of Labour is among dozens of organizations calling for theminimum wage to be bumped up to $15 an hour.

That demand is likely to be expressed in the annual May Day demonstrations scheduled to be held across the province on Sunday.

British Columbia has the lowest minimum wage in Canada at$10.45 anhour. Workers inNunavutbenefit from the highest, at $13 an hour.
