Charles Kowalski hopes to inspire other fans to donate to the cause

An Ottawa-based doctor who took out a full page ad blasting the Montreal Canadiensfor trading P.K. Subbandelivered a $250,000cheque on Wednesday to the star defenceman's charity.

Dr. CharlesKowalskigave the cash toP.K.Subban'sHelping Handfund at the Montreal Children's Hospital.

Kowalski said Subban calledto thank him for the donation,and invited the doctor and his family to be his guests when the Predators visit Montreal in January.

"Hewas so happy that ...someone was taking an initiative in Montreal," Kowalski said of Subban.

Kowalski spoke at the cheque presentation ceremony in the P.K. Subban atrium, saying that he hopes his gift will inspire others.

He'sstarted a websitewhere he's askingfellowHabs fans to donate $15 the price of a beer at the Bell Centre to raise money for the the Children's Hospital.

Kowalski says he's been a fan since he was a child, and is proud to be able to support Subban'scharitable commitment to the hospital.

"I love the game of hockeyandwhen I was a kid there were only two Canadian teams, Montreal and Toronto.I just fell in love with the Montreal Canadiens."
