AMT train service back to normal after truck hits Guy overpass, again

AMT train service on all three trainlines has resumed after being suspendedfor almost an hour Wednesdayafter a truck rammed into the overpass on Guy Street.

The AMT announced the closure at 2:37 p.m.

About an hour later the AMT saidthe overpass had been inspected and was deemedsafe.

This is the third time in recent months that a truck has hit the overpass.

Similar accidentscaused commuter train interruptions on Aug.31 andon Oct.5.

For years, southbound truck drivershave overestimated the height of the overpass on Guy Street north ofSt-Antoine West, leading to frequent collisions.

Several years agoauthoritiesinstalled a special sensor on the overpassthat measurestrucks and warnsdrivers of any danger of collision.
