Driver who slammed into back of school bus suffers life-threatening injuries

A 22-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries when her car rear-ended a school bus between Grand-Barachois and Cap-Pel early Monday morning.

A 22-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries when her car rear-ended a school bus between Grand-Barachoisand Cap-Pel early Monday morning.

Thecrash happened around 7:15 a.m. on Route 133, said Cpl. Eric Hanson of theRCMP'sShediacdetachment.

The bus stopped to pick up twostudents when it was struckfrom behind.

Hanson said the students were safe, but the woman driving the car was seriously injured and taken to hospital inMoncton.

An RCMPstatement said the car was "pinned under the bus and the driver needed to be extracted from her vehicle."

Another bus picked up the students and dropped them off at school.

Part of the road was blocked for more than an hour while the RCMP investigated, but it has since reopened.

Police are continuing to investigate.
