Winter 1-2 punch: Another storm hits Thursday

While many parts of the province are just cleaning up from as much as 32 centimetres of heavy, wet snow, another storm system bearing down on the province could deliver another blow Thursday.

Northern and central areas of the province are under a winter storm warning from Environment Canada. It is possible central New Brunswick could see 25 cm of snow overnight Wednesday and throughout Thursday.

Environment Canada meteorologist Claude Cote said the area from Perth-Andover through Mount Carleton to Bathurst could see 30 cm of snow on Thursday.

The snowfall total in the north of the province is forecast to be between 10 cm and 20 cm.

The Fredericton, Grand Lake and Moncton areas, which were hardest hit in the storm overnight Tuesday, are being advised that some southern areas of the province could see in excess of 15 cm of snow fall onThursday.

Cote said Fredericton can expect 15 to 20 cm of wet snow, starting before daybreak Thursday.

"Environment Canada will issue a snowfall warning for the Fredericton area," Cote said.

Snow is expected to begin overnight Wednesday in the northwest and spread eastward by morning, with snow continuing until Thursday evening.
