Fredericton will lend police dog services to Saint John

The Saint John Police Force will be getting help from Fredericton while they work on getting their own police dog service.

Fredericton city council passed a memorandum of understanding at their meeting on Monday nightto let the Saint John Police Force borrow a police dog when needed.

Saint John has been without a police dog for more thana year now, as their last dog died in April 2015.

The agreement with the Fredericton Police Force will expire at the end of 2017.

The Saint John Police Force will be responsible for the costs that come with bringing a dog and handlers from Fredericton to Saint John.

The Fredericton police will maintain priority of the police dog serviceand it's no guarantee that the service will be available every time Saint John needs it.
