In northern N.B., Liberals continue to dominate

The Liberal Party dominated in the northern part of New Brunswick on election night.

While there wasn't much change, there were some notable races, including in Bathurst, where Mayor Kim Chamberlain was running for the PCs, hoping to claim a seat that has been Liberal for almost a century. However, Liberal Ren Legacy was re-elected with 56.7 per cent of the vote.

Restigouche West

Liberal Gilles LePage was re-elected with 64.2 per cent of the vote.

Restigouche East

Liberal Guy Arsenault was re-elected with 53.2 per cent of the vote.

Belle-Baie-Belledune

Liberal Marco LeBlanc was re-elected with 63.1 per cent of the vote.

Hautes-Terres-Nepisiguit

Liberal Luc Robichaud was elected with 76.3 per cent of the vote.

Caraquet

Liberal Isabelle Thriault was re-elected with 89.3 per cent of the vote.

Shippagan-Les-les

Liberal ric Mallet was re-elected with 75.4 per cent of the vote.

Tracadie

Liberal Keith Chiasson was re-elected with 53.5 per cent of the vote.

Edmundston-Northwest

Grand Falls-Valle-des-Rivires-Saint-Quentin

Liberal Chuck Chiasson was re-elected with 62.1 per cent of the vote.

Edmundston-Valle-des-Rivires

Liberal Jean-Claude D'Amours was re-elected with 81.9 per cent of the vote.

Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston

Liberal Francine Landry was re-elected with 67.1 per cent of the vote.

Miramichi-Northeast N.B.

Miramichi Bay-Neguac

The Liberals won this riding, with Sam Johnston clinching the seat with 52.2 per cent of the vote.

In 2020, the Liberals won here easily in 2020, but Rjean Savoie picked it up for the PCs in a 2022 byelection and became the second francophone PC MLA and cabinet minister in the Higgs government.

Miramichi East

Progressive Conservative Michelle Conroy was re-elected with 50.8 per cent of the vote. The Liberals trailed behind with 40.9 per cent of the vote.

Miramichi West

Progressive Conservative Mike Dawson was re-elected with 57.1 per cent of the vote.
