A couple in the Fredericton area is raising money for charity with a display involving about 35,000 Christmas lights.

Catherine and Dany Falle began a 30-day countdown to Christmas on Monday by throwing the switch to illuminate their display of 35,000 Christmas lights at their Lincoln home.

It is the most elaborate display ever for the couple, topping last year's effort that involved 28,000 lights.

It did not disappoint those who came to take in what is becoming an annual tradition in Lincoln.

"It's incredible," said Robert Sarty. "It puts so many smiling faces on kids from one to 100. I mean, it's awesome."

Karl Forster agrees: "This is an impressive display. It's always worth the trip."

At the peak of the Christmas season in previous years, the Falle'sdisplay drew lineups of cars that stretched for more than three kilometres.

Dany Falle says he always loved lights and electronics. The light display is co-ordinated with music through his computer.

The couple begins coming up with ideas for the display in the summer. It takes two weekends and a lot of extra help to string up all the lights.

Over the years, the display kept growing, says Falle.Three years ago, he decided to start accepting donations to benefit charity.

"We had people coming over and I was, `Geez, why don't we start raising money for one of the charities,' and Make-A-Wish is the one we chose."

The Falle's Christmas lights show has raised more than $29,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation over the last three years, including $13,000 last year.

Thedisplay will remainin place until Jan. 1.
