Spring spruce ups were happening right across the province this weekend.

And along one thoroughfare in Saint John, 150 amateur artists took paint and brush to a fading wall.

After 11 hours of painting, the Marigolds Mural on Main Street was brought back to vibrant life by the volunteer painting crew.

The mural is a permanent reminder of an annual event, The Marigold Project.

The project started as a beautification project in the City of Saint John called Marigolds on Main Street, but has blossomed to include the Greater Saint John and Fundy area.

Now in its eighteenth year, an expected 7,000 children from 50 schools at 50 different sites will be planting marigolds this spring.
