Court delays for 2 of 3 men charged in Petit-Cap smokehouse fire

Stephane Gallant and Cody Dubchak were in court Friday for their alleged connection to the Elphge & Norbert Leblanc smokehouse fire earlier this month.

Thecourt cases for two of three men charged witharson in Petit-Cap have been delayed.

The two menwere in court Friday after a fire destroyed the Elphge& Norbert LeBlanc smokehouse July 9.Both cases were adjourned to a later date.

A date for a bail hearing was supposed to be set forStephane Gallant, 36, ofBoudreau-Ouestnear Shediac.

Judge Luc Labontgranted the defence's request to delay the case until Oct.1.

Tim Dub, the lawyer of record in Gallant's cases, said he needs more time to review disclosure documentsbefore the case can proceed.

A date for a bail hearing is expected to be set for Gallant's case in October.

Also present in court was Cody Dubchak, 38, ofShediac, who was also charged with arson-damage to property after the July 9 fire.

While his bail hearing was scheduled for Friday, Judge Paul Duffie granted the defence an adjournment until July 26 because ofa scheduling issue with Dubchak's lawyer.

The third man charged in relation to thefire, Austin Dernier, is set to appear in court July 22, when a date for a bail hearing is supposed to be set.
