Pleas on illegal hunting charges now set for August

Five people facing dozens of charges relating to illegal hunting and harvesting are now scheduled to enter pleas on August 25.

A family of outfitters from Plaster Rock and David Bowen of West Virginia are facing a total of 63 charges.

Daniel Dyer, his wife Kimberly, son Christopher and guide Todd Daye, who are all part of Lawrence Dyer and Sons outfitters have been charged with a variety of offences under the Fish and Wildlife Act.

The case of five people accused of dozens of illegal hunting charges in the Plaster Rock area has been delayed again.

The charges include possessing illegal bear parts, moose and deer meat. Other charges relate to illegal hunting and illegal hunting practices.

Bowen is charged with 20 counts of illegally hunting moose, harvesting, hunting at night and possessing loaded firearms in a vehicle.

They were scheduled to enter pleas on the charges Tuesday in provincial court in Grand Falls, but defence lawyer Melanie Tremblaytold the court the case file is "quite thick" and requestedan additional two months to review the file.
