RCMP investigate Moncton house fire death as homicide

RCMP say they are investigating the death of a young male adult found in a Moncton residence as a homicide.

Victim identified as 18-year-old Baylee Wylie

RCMPsay they are investigating the death of a young adultfound in a Moncton residenceas a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-oldBayleeWylie. His body wasdiscovered Thursday byMonctonfirefighters whenextinguishing an early morning fire at a residence on Sumac Street.

"Police have enoughevidence to treat the investigation as a homicide," said Sgt.AndrPepinof theCodiacRegionalRCMP.

"The investigation is now focusing on the circumstances surrounding his death."

RCMP are asking for thepublic's assistance with the investigation.

The Moncton Fire Department was called to the fire in a triplex at 96 Sumac Street at about 4 a.m. Thursday.

Fire Chief Eric Arsenault saidfirefighters were able to contain the fire to one unit and extinguish it quickly.

"Unfortunately we did discover a fatality in the unit," said Arsenault.
