Missing Mount Allison student wore shoes found in woods

RCMP have confirmed the shoes found in a wooded area in Upper Sackville earlier this week were worn by a missing Mount Allison University student.

RCMP have confirmed the shoes found in a wooded area in Upper Sackville earlier this weekwere worn by a missing Mount Allison University student.

Christopher Metallic, 20, was last seen early Sunday morningat a house party on Allison Street in Sackville.

He left the party without his ownshoes, but may have been wearing flip flops, witnesses said.

On Wednesday, RCMP and Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue volunteers expanded their aerial and ground search to the woods off of Route 940 after a citizen found a pair of flip flops there.

Police had also receiveda report of a suspicious person matching Metallic's description walking in the area on Upper Aboujagne Road at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.

But with no new clues and no new leads, theactive search was called offon Thursday.

More searches are possible, depending on information received or evidence collected, Cpl. Chantal Farrah stressed.

Meanwhile, Metallic'sfamily plans to make a statement about his disappearance during a news conference on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the university's Sir James Dunn Building.

A benefit concert will be held on Sunday at George's Roadhouse, on Lorne Street, starting at 1 p.m.

The university and community of Sackville organizedthe Concertof Hope for Chris Metallic to raise funds to increase the reward being offered by Metallic's family for information leading to his whereabouts.

Admission to theconcert, which will feature a wide range of local performers, is by donation, organizers said. There will also be a silent auction.

A Facebook group called Chris Metallic Please help us bring him home, created on Tuesday,had more than 2,000 "likes" by late Friday afternoon.

Metallic is described as being aboriginal, six feet tall, 180 pounds, with short dark hair and glasses.

He was last seen wearing a shiny bright blue sweater, jeans and flip flops.
