Vehicles won't be booted at Moncton Santa Claus parade

Moncton Santa Claus Parade organizers promise motorists' vehicles won't be booted Saturday.

Lot owners promise to be nice, not naughty, and will allow parade-goers free parking

Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade organizers promise motorists' vehicles won't be booted Saturday.

Last year, some attendees returned to their vehicles to find a clamp, also known as a "Denver Boot" had been attached to their wheels. The boot prevents vehicles from being moved.

Gerry LeBlanc, a parade committee member, says organizers have spoken to parking lot owners who have agreed to let people park for free for the duration of the parade.

"We met with them, and talked with them and they've all said they will give us their lots for viewers to come and park there and enjoy their viewing of the parade," said LeBlanc.

"There's over 31 lots around the Greater Moncton Area where you can park your cars and it was given that there would be no booting for tomorrow night. I can't promise you if you leave your car all night, but for that period of time an hour or two before, and after, you should be good to go."

The parade usually attracts more than 100,000 people to the downtown area. It is the largest Santa Claus parade east of Toronto and the third largest in the country.

It starts Saturday at 5 p.m.
