A team from New Brunswick, skipped by Fredericton's Wayne Tallon, has captured the world senior men's curling championship., creating excitement in the city.

A team from New Brunswick has captured the world senior men's curling championship.

The team skipped by Wayne Tallon of Fredericton defeated Sweden 7-2 Wednesday to win the title in Dumfries, Scotland, capping an undefeated week.

Tallonis joined by Mike Kennedy, Mike Flannery and Wade Blanchard.

Im just lost for wordsreally ecstatic about it, saidTallon. Im really happy at how the boys played. They played really hard, so it feels good.

"We were patient. We were trying to score soft deuces without too much risk and we were able to do that textbook curling take two and give up one, take two and give up one," he said.

The Tallon foursome was in control throughout the game against Sweden's Conniestlund.

It is the ninth time Canada has won the world senior men's championship.

Colleen Pinkney's team from Truro, N.S.reached the championship game in the women's bracket at the senior championships, but fell 6-5 to Scotland on Wednesday.

Scotland's Christine Cannon stole two in the final endto claim the title.

Wendy Currie, Shelley MacNutt and Susan Creelman join Pinkneyon the team from Truro.
