What's open, what's closed for New Brunswick Day

Most retail and grocery stores will be closed on Monday for New Brunswick Day, but many summer attractions will be open.

Most retail and grocery stores will be closed on Monday for New Brunswick Day, but many summer attractions will be open.

Special events are also planned across the province, with the largest in Fredericton.

Here's what's open and closed this New Brunswick Day:

Retail and grocery:

  • Some Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be closed, with others operating under reduced hours, depending on location.
  • Walmart, Sobeys and Atlantic Superstore locations will be closed.
  • N.B. Liquor Corporation locations will be closed.
  • Regent Mall, McAllister Place and Champlain Place will be closed.
  • The Saint John City Market will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Attractions:

  • Entry to all New Brunswick Provincial Parks is free. There are special events at Rpublique, Mount Carleton, Fundy Trail, Hopewell Rocks and New River Beach provincial parks on Monday.
  • Fundy and Kouchibouguacnational parks are open.
  • The Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton will be open from noon to 5 p.m. with free admission.
  • Fredericton's indoor and outdoor pools, Killarney Lake and Wilmot splash pad will remain open. The Nashwaaksis Field House will be closed.
  • The Huntsman Marine Science Centre's Fundy Discovery Aquarium in Saint Andrews will be open.
  • The Kingsbrae Garden in Saint Andrews will be open.
  • The New Brunswick Botanical Garden in Edmundston will be open.
  • Resurgo Place in Moncton will be open.
  • Magnetic Hill Zoo in Moncton will be open.

Government offices, public services:

  • Saint John City Hall, Fredericton City Hall, MonctonCityHall and all city administrative offices will be closed.
  • Saint John Transit, Fredericton Transit and Codiac Transpo in Moncton will not be running.
  • Service New Brunswick will be closed.
  • Regular garbage collection will happen.
  • Public libraries across New Brunswick will be closed.

Monday celebrations:

  • The official New Brunswick Day celebrations on Monday will be held in Fredericton at the legislature starting at noon. The will endwith fireworks from the Westmorland Street Bridge around 9:45 p.m. The bridge will be closed to traffic from 7 p.m. to midnight.
  • The city of Bathurst will havelive music, inflatables, foods trucks and more at Youghall Beach Park from 12 to 4 p.m.
  • Sussex is hosting a free barbecue, music, yard games and children'sevents at O'Connell Park from 12 to 3 p.m.
  • Quispamsis is hosting live music, games and other events at the Arts and Culture Park from 6:30to 8:30 p.m.
