An anti-abortion group says the latest Newfoundland and Labrador budget will put more pressure on women to have abortions.

Ten members of Pro-Life NL held a mini-protest at Confederation Building onWednesday, saying they feared the budget would increase the number of families who abort fetusesfor financial reasons.

"Many of the over 1,000 abortions committed in N.L.every year are purely for reasons of personal finances or convenience," the group said in a news release.

The Annual March for Life took place this afternoon at Confederation Building.

"With increased taxes and cuts in social programs, the Liberal budget will do nothing but put even more pressure on those facing difficult decisions."

The anti-abortion activists said that if the province is looking to save money, it should stop funding abortion procedures.
