13-year-old girl dies after ATV crash in Bonavista

A 13-year-old girl is dead after an ATV accident in Bonavista on Saturday afternoon.

BonavistaRCMPsaid Sunday afternoon that police, an ambulance and the BonavistaFire Department were called around 3 p.m., Saturday to a rollover of a single ATV on a local trail.

Police say there were three people in the vehicle at the time. The driver, a female youth, say police, was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where she died a short time later. The two passengers, both also 13 years old, suffered minor injuries.

Const. Mark Fowler of the BonavistaRCMP says the cause of the accident appears to have been driver inexperience.
