Corner Brook residents can now use their tablets and smartphones to track plows and other snow removal equipment as it moves throughout the city.

The city launched a websitelast year that allows people totrack plows, salt trucks, tractors and other vehicles in real-time. Now, the site has been upgraded to be mobile-friendly.

You just shovelled your driveway - and here comes the snow plow. The City of Corner Brook has a website to track their snow removal equipment. It launched last year, but it's updated to be mobile friendly. Mayor Charles Pender spoke with Lindsay Bird.

Mayor Charles Pender thinkspeople will now be able to check on the status of plows, which will let them make better decisions about shoveling or snowblowing before they even pull in to their driveway.

"People are leaving work or the grocery store and wondering if they go home, will they park their car it in the driveway, leave it on my road and clear the driveway that sort of thing," Pender told CBC's Corner Brook Morning Show.

"Now you can check on the app and see if the vehicle is in your area and if you can expect them to be there in the next 20 minutes or so."

The website shows a map of Corner Brook that updates every three minutes, whichusers can then navigate around to find particular neighbourhoods.

The snow removal equipment is shown as highlighted iconson the map that people can then track.

"It's really just meant to show if a plow or tractor in your neighbourhood," Pender said.

"We have seven snowclearing routes in the city, and depending on your neighbourhood and your route you can pretty much predict where it's going to plow next."

The service can be found by visiting the websiteon computer, tablet or smartphone.
