Dwight Ball steady at 20% approval rating, still at 2nd-lowest in Canada

Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Dwight Ball's approval rating is steady at 20 per cent, the second-lowest approval rating in Canada, according to the latest results from Angus Reid.

Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Dwight Ball's approval rating is steady at 20 per cent, the second-lowest approval rating in Canada, according to the latest results from Angus Reid.

Ball is in second last place, ahead of OntarioPremier Kathleen Wynnewho hit a record-low approval rating of 12 per cent.

The poll, released Friday by the Angus Reid Institute, shows Ball's approval rating essentially unchanged from a previous poll in September 2016.

Of the people in the province polled, 69 per cent said they disapproved of Ball's performance as premier, while 10 per cent said they were not sure.

Just over a year ago, Angus Reid ranked Ball as the second-most approved of premier in Canada. Then, in May 2016, his approval rating took a nose dive to 16 per cent.

That increased to 21 per cent in September, and stayed about the same in a subsequent December survey.

The latest survey was conducted from March 6-13, with a sample size of 5,404 Canadian adults, 281 of themin Newfoundland and Labrador.

The sample size carries a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
