Rider dead after electric scooter crashes into St. John's light pole

Police say a 47-year-old man has died after his electric scooter collided with a light pole in St. John's.

Police say a 47-year-old man has died after his electric scooter collided with a light pole in St. John's.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabularyresponded to the crash around 9:20 a.m. on Monday in the area of Water Street and Hamilton Avenue. The man was not wearing a helmet when the collision happened, police said in a news release.

On Wednesday, police said the man died after being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are investigatingthe crash and are seeking any information from the public about what happenedleading up to the incident.
