The cast reuniting for the movie that's an extension of the TV series Hatching, Matching and Dispatching is making good use of this week's heavy snowfall in St. John's.

"We were shooting [Tuesday] and I'm shooting tomorrow. That's actually the main reason why I'm in St. John's, it's not for the tropical weather," says comedian Shaun Majumder, who is reprising his role as Cyril the grave digger for the upcoming movie.

The CBC series is based on the premise of a family that operates a wedding parlour, ambulance service and funeral home.

It ran for one season in 2006 and starred Majumder, Jonny Harris andSusan Kent, along with Mary Walsh in the lead role of family matriarch, Mamie Lou Furey.

Actor Mary Walsh, right, won a Gemini for her role in the TV series that ran for one season. Filming is underway on the movie and it's expected to be released next Christmas.

"It's loosely based around an actual family out around the bay [the Furey's] you know Mary knew about this family and she wrote this TV show and it was super funny," said Majumder.

He said fans can expect the Hatching, Matching and Dispatching movie next Christmas.

"Everybody's back. It's really, really exciting," Majumder said.

"This is a show, in my mind, that should never have died."
