Katarina Roxon 'enjoying every moment' in Rio before heading home to Newfoundland

Paralympic gold medalist Katarina Roxonis excited to return home to Kippens, Newfoundland on Tuesday, but plans to spend her last hours in Brazil just soaking up the rest of theexperience.

Roxon wongold in the100-metre breaststroke last weekat the Paralympic Gamesin Riode Janeiro.

Since the win, she said she has been overwhelmed withcompliments and accolades from people back in her home province and across the country.

Roxon saidher third ParalympicGames have been a tremendous experience, butfor now, she's not even thinking about what's next.

"Honestly, I'm not looking at anything in the future right now, just really, I'm enjoying every moment of this," she told CBC News over the phone from Rio.

"I think right now I'm more excited to cheer on the rest of Team Canada.Once I go home though, it might hit me a little bit more."

Roxon saidshe's still blown away by all of the support she's been getting, and told CBC News she has no words for some of the kind things she's been hearing from people.

While she isn't wishing her time away in Brazil, Roxonsays after a gruelling few months of training, competing, and being far away from home, it will be nice to get back to Kippens.

"I'mlooking forward to getting home," she said.

"It's been a long two months but it was great, and I think it's going to be fun coming back."
