Malcolm Rowe sworn in to seat on Supreme Court of Canada

It's official for Malcolm Rowe, who was sworn in Monday as the newest judge onthe Supreme Court of Canada.

The court tweeted out a photograph of Rowetaking the oath of office in Ottawa.

The former justice of the Newfoundland and Labrador Court of Appeal was the first to be appointed under a new process where people apply for a job on the bench and are vetted by an independent advisory board.

Rowe was questioned by senators and members of Parliament last Tuesday, following his nomination.

He replaces Justice Thomas Cromwell, a Nova Scotian who retired in September.
