"[We] never thought that we could have biological kids."

Taryn Remedios had three late-term miscarriages before turning to surrogacy. She and her husband found their match online.

"We just love Newfoundlandmy husband has family in Whitbourne, and we've been herewe know that Newfoundland is such a great place, and they're good people," Taryn said.

Grothe said she was happy to be able to help someone.

"I know several peoplefamily, friends, and stuffthat haven't been able to have kids over the years, and we have five," Grothe said.

"The thought of not being able to have any is kind of sad to me, and the fact that I can do iteasilyand not have any problemsI just wanted to be able to help somebody."

Grothe is a gestational carrier, meaning her body carries the baby to term, but the egg and the sperm came from the couple.

Hitting it off

Grothesaid when she first met the couple, she knew right away they would be the right couple to help.

"It's like we've known each other forever, to be honest with you. From the first time we talked, we just kind of clicked,"she said.

"It's not like that for everybody, I realize that. But for us, it was kind of easy."

She said she's looking forward to the delivery.

"My favourite part I can't wait for is to see their faces in the delivery room," she said. "That's what I'm really looking forward to."

Clayton Remedios said he's nervous, but excited, for the baby to come.

"It's the nervousness of taking the baby and having it in our arms," he said.

"It's a feeling that I think we've been waiting for a long time."

The baby will be delivered at the hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor. Grothe is due in approximately two weeks.
