NDP charge against Dwight Ball shot down in HoA

An NDP attempt to condemn Premier Dwight Ball was shot down in the House of Assembly on Tuesday, just moments after it was proposed.

A resolution by NDP house leader Lorraine Michael, accusing the premier of breaking House of Assembly rules, was cut off by Speaker Tom Osborneas she was still speaking in the legislature.

Just before question period, Michael stood and accused the premier of "deliberately giving misleading and inconsistent statements" in the House of Assembly.

She was planning to charge that the premier was acting "in contempt" of the parliament, essentially breaking the House of Assembly rules.

But she had barely started her statement when Osbornecut her off.

He said that until it isproven that someone lied, that accusation cannot be made in the House of Assembly.

"Until admitted or so found by the house, as the case may be, such allegations are unparliamentary, and cannot be uttered in this house," said Osborne.
