Protests have resumed at the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project, with protesters gathered at the North Spur site Saturday.

Posts to social media showed a handful of protesters gathered to prevent a number of transport trucks from entering the site.

The protest comes after NalcorEnergy discovered "increased water seepage"froma temporary cofferdam Friday.

Nalcor CEO Stan Marshall said the rock-filled cofferdam is "not designedto be completely impervious," and will undergo further inspection.

Significant protests in October were in opposition to the flooding of the Muskrat Falls reservoir due to environmental concerns.

According to a study conducted byresearchers from Harvard University, the flooding couldincreasethepotential for methylmercury contamination in traditional food sources like fish and seal downstream in Lake Melville.
