Accused murderer Raymond Stacey denied bail

Raymond Stacey, the young man accused of fatally stabbing his co-worker Clifford Comerford last winter, has been denied bail.

Raymond Stacey, the young man accused of fatally stabbing his co-worker Clifford Comerfordin thewinterof 2015, has been denied bail.

Justice Raymond Halley made the ruling Thursday morningat Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court in St. John's.

The reasons for denying Stacey bail cannot be reported because of a publication ban.

Stacey and Comerford workedtogetherat a chicken barnnear Paddy's Pond at the time.

Stacey, 24, pleaded not guilty to second degree murder in February of this year.

He is alleged to have stabbed Comerford, 41, inside a minivanthat was taking them both to work on Jan. 11, 2015.

Comerford was rushed to hospital from Greenwood Crescent off Topsail Road, but died of his injuries in the Health Sciences Centre.

Stacey is set to stand trial by judge and jury in November.
