Search continues for Jeffrey Crocker, missing in Goulds area

A search continues in the St. John's neighbourhood of the Goulds for a 34-year-old man with autism who went missing Friday.

Jeffrey Crocker, who lost his father in a house fire in March, is thought to be in the Shoal Bay Road area.

A cormorant helicopter is again searching the area, as is the Rovers Ground Search and Rescue Team.

Volunteers from the Goulds were also combing the trails on ATV's looking for Crocker.

"We've had some possible sightings that we're chasing down right now, but we still haven't made contact with the subject that we're looking for," said Rovers Ground Search and Rescue Team CoordinatorRandy Biddiscombe.

Police on Friday said Crocker was wearing a green t-shirt, a black and grey jacket, and grey track pants when he went missing.

They're also asking people in the Goulds area to check their properties to make sure Crocker isn't seeking shelter there, especially around decks, sheds, etc.

Biddiscombe said there have been several potential sightings that his group isfollowing up on.

"People have phoned in or stopped by the truck and said, 'I've seen the person and this is the location,'" he said.

Crocker made headlines in March when he survived a house fire in Burnt Cove on the Avalon Peninsula's southern shore. He had made several attempts to save his father, Junior Crocker, but could not get him out alive.

Crocker also lost his mother to cancer just months before the fire. Following the fire, Crocker went to live with his brother.

"It was cold last night, but he's a healthy person, there's no medical condition that we know of," said Biddiscombe.

"So right now were looking at a positive outcome."
