St. John's court hears David Folker 911 call

The trial for a NovaScotiaman accused of murdering his former partner resumed Tuesday in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court in St. John's.

DavidFolker, 42, is charged with the second-degree murder of his former partner, Ann MarieShirran, on July 18, 2010. He is also charged with improperly or indecently interfering with or offering any indignity to a dead human body or human remains, whether buried or not.

The jury heard two taped recordings ofFolkerfrom July 19, 2010 the day after Ann MarieShirranwas supposed to have gone missing.

The day afterFolkerdumpedShirran'sbody in an area ofCappahaydenon the Southern Shore, hecalled 911 to report her missing.

On Tuesday the court heard the call Folker'svoice was monotone, and hemumbledat times while answering the dispatcher's questions.

"Any idea where she might be," the dispatcherasked. "No idea,"Folkersaid.

The dispatcher also askedFolkerifit was possible thatShirranhad simplyleft him.

"No,"Folkeranswered.

The Crown also played a voice mail that was left byFolkeron the same day. The 42-year-old called one ofShirran'sfriends.

"Hi, it's Dave. I'm looking for Annie,"Folkersaid.

Last week,Folkeradmitted thatShirranthe mother of his one-year-old sonwas killed after a fight between the two, and that he disposed of her body, then hid her belongings.

DespiteFolker'sadmissions, he has maintained his not-guilty pleas.

The trial will continue on Wednesday.
