Theft ring busted, police say

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says it hasbroken a theft ring that's been targeting construction sites on the northeast Avalon Peninsula for months.

Police say two people took property from 15 different construction sites and sold them to a third man.

The stolen items include tools, plumbing supplies, lighting, appliances and electronics.

One of the accused men, Robert Dyer, 39, has been arrested and wasscheduled to appear in court Thursday. Police said a warrant has been issued for Trevor Doyle, 32.

The police believe the two men took the materials and sold them to James Kelloway, 44.

Kelloway has also been arrested and is expected to face seven possession of stolen property charges.

The arrests come after aninvestigation that began in June after a break and enter at Kenmount Terrace in St. John's.

Police said they found expensive tools they believe were stolen when they searched Kelloway's house Wednesday night.
