Baffin Island dogsledding couple near halfway mark of journey

An Iqaluit couple travelling 4,000 kilometresby dog sled around Baffin Island is nearly halfwaythrough its journey.

The pair areretracing a routeMcNair-Landry'sparents took 25 years ago.

Sarah McNair-Landry and Erik Boomer wereen route to Pond Inlet on Thursday, and have already passed throughPangnirtung, Qikiqtarjuaq andClyde River.

Boomer says the trip has eerilyevoked the one recounted byMcNair-Landry's parents in a diarywritten during the original trip, particularlywhen it comes to fears about the strength of the dogs.

Boomer and McNair-Landry have been travelling with 14 dogs for nearly 60 days.

Boomer says he and McNair-Landry are meeting their goals to engage with people and have a lot of fun.
