Boil water advisory in Rankin Inlet continues into 6th day

Rankin Inlet, Nunavut's second most populated community, is still under a boil water advisory five days after the order first took effect.

Order issued in response to low chlorine levels in community's drinking water

Rankin Inlet, Nunavut's second most populatedcommunity, is still under a boil water advisory five days after the orderfirst took effect.

The territorial Department of Health and Social Servicesissued the order on April 2 due to low chlorine levels in the community's drinking water.

The department is advising the community's nearly 3,000 residents to boil water for at least one minute fordrinking,preparing infant formulas,makingjuices and ice cubes,washing fruits and vegetables,cooking,orbrushing teeth.

The advisory was being reevaluated, though not lifted,as of early Tuesday afternoon, according to the department.
