ENR seeks info on black bear shot at Reid Lake Sunday

The N.W.T.s Department of Environment and Natural Resources wants to find out who shot a black bear in Reid Lake Territorial Park Sunday morning without reporting the kill.

The N.W.T.s Department of Environment and Natural Resources wants to find out who shot a black bear in Reid Lake Territorial Park Sunday morningwithout reporting the kill.

While it is legal to shoot a bear in self-defence when life or property is threatened, the kill must be reported to the nearest Renewable Resource Officer as soon as possible, a press release states.

In most cases, the officer comes to the site and takes possession of the bear.

The bear a femaleabout a year and a half old was shot atthe Reid Lake campground around 7 a.m. August 17.
