"I donated $105 to the lunch program because they spend lots of money for us," says Joshua Drygeese.

Shirley Desjarlais, his teacher at Mildred Hall School, says she wasn't surprised, because Joshua is an enthusiastic student of the aboriginal language and culture program.

"One of the things we learn is the Dene law and one of the Dene laws is to share and Joshua took it upon himself to follow through with the laws he's been practising."

The breakfast program at the school honoured Joshua with some recognition at an assembly.

He says it felt good.
