Handgun found on Yellowknife's Con Mine industrial site

RCMP are investigating after a citizen found a handgun, unattended, in Yellowknife's Con Mine industrial site.

Citizen turned gun over to police, who are investigating

RCMP are investigating after a handgun was found unattended within Yellowknife city limits.

The handgun was found by a member of the public on Nov.30, on the outskirts of the Con Mine industrial site, according to an RCMP press release.The citizen then turned the handgun in to police.

In the release, police say thatthe area is light on pedestrian and vehicle traffic and they believe there are no public safety concerns.

However, the release goes on to say that "it is concerning, that the handgun was found, unattended, which is a potential safety risk."

Police are asking Yellowknifers to report suspicious-looking packages directly to the RCMP.
